In the beginning God created. It's right there, page 1, "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". Is this something that you actually believe though? We are living in a world that tells us otherwise. It tells us that we are really only an accident, the result of an explosion. It tells us that nothing happens on purpose but by coincidence. God tells us something different. He says that He is the ultimate Creator of everything, seriously everything. In Isaiah 40, the author writes, "Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing" (Isaiah 40:26).
A few summers ago I had the chance to hike through Bryce Canyon National Park with some of the most wonderful people I have ever met. The first night we got there, I remember the sun just beginning to set and as we stared out into the Hoodoo filled valley, the stars would start to peak out in the sky. I remember the feeling of being so small and yet feeling deeply known. Because every star that God placed and called good, He turns to us, His creation, and calls us very good.
The Creator of all things, of the heavens, of earth, of you and me says this is truth. Do you actually believe it though? When was the last time you marveled at the work He has done?
The heavens declare the glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands...do you?
